The fashion trends you need to know about
this summer!
The fashion
capitols of the world have spoken London, New York, Paris and Milan and the
summer trends have been decided. The catwalks were awash with many a craze that
can easily translate to our everyday wardrobes; from pink to canary yellow, new
takes on the 90’s sheer ensemble and hello 80’s! Shoulder pads are back. And
not forgetting ruffled textures and statement sleeves! So why not get ahead of
the game and start thinking about what to wear next season right now.
Here's my run-down on what you need to know...
Sheer
We are seeing a load more underwear this season (or not.)
Just when we thought it was safe to venture out with clothes on Burberry had
other ideas, think crochet bottoms, and lace adorned by Dolce & Gabbana.
Perspex trousers are a must for any true fashion lover!
Shoulder Pads
Extreme boxy shapes walked the walk but, more relaxed shapes,
thank you Chanel, are available to us! This look is good news for cinching in
our waistlines! Jackets, tops you name it and it will do the job.
Pink
Love or loathe washes of pink is definitely on the fashion
cards this summer, particularly the fuchsia variety. Hues flooded the catwalks
courtesy of Topshop, Valentino and H&M. Colour block it, layer it, sprinkle
a dash, you can’t go wrong as long as it’s pink, pink, pink!
Stripes
Seaside to school to sailor – the catwalks were adorned with
stripes. Stripes are a fantastic way to add understated chic to your wardrobe.
Pinstripes, thick stripes, multi-coloured stripes and even stripy boots can be
worn for added contrast.
Sleeves
Think ruffles, flutes, cropped, bunched, oversized. According
to Balmain anything goes. The statement sleeve is still going strong on the
catwalk and will continue on into AW17 evolving as it goes. It’ll be exciting
to watch and will make a great investment piece.
Ruffles
A look that can take you from desk to disco. Ruffles are
making the summery transition from the AW catwalks which is great news. The
romantic ruff and floral prints are the picture of femininity. We’re happy to
have the opportunity to saunter in the sun this summer in these beautiful and
flattering shapes.
