Advert: Awesome Mama

I recently started Awesome Mama as a side project to my art business @twoforjoyart and it's taken on an exciting life of it's own!

I've been paper cutting for about 7 years and whilst I love it, it's insanely time consuming and having a baby that doesn't sleep unless being walked the streets, it wasn't the easiest of things to do. It involves a huge amount of concentration and I wanted to explore a "freer" process.

Awesome Mama started off with the thought of making some Mother's Day cards but quickly progressed into something larger and I'm now working on content for a book.

The book will be full of fun and quirky illustrations of different types of Mums, Punky Mama, Designer Mama, Sleep deprived Mama (she's me!) among others and no matter what type of Mother you are, all Mum's are awesome!

I plan to self publish the book as I'd like total control over it, so am currently taking on commissions for personalised drawings of Awesome Mamas and Awesome Dad's in order to fund the book.

I absolutely love seeing all the photos that come in for my commissions and the character labels are sometimes really entertaining. It gives me a brief snapshot into a family's life which is really lovely.

Being a Mum is the hardest job on earth, but one I would never swap. The book will be for each and every Mama doing her very best, every day, even when it feels like you're wading through treacle. It will celebrate Motherhood, the good, the bad, the ugly and the darn right entertaining!
