Wish You Were Here!

Hi everyone!

This weeks travel post is something a little different to any of the others I've done, because the destination we traveled to is in England! If you don't fancy heading to the airport and travelling abroad, it can be quite difficult to find something suitable here in the UK. You often end up spending the same amount of money (if not more!) as you'd pay to spend some time in the sun.

I looked through lots of different sites and reviews from parents all over the UK as to which holiday park they would recommend, and a name that kept cropping up was Rockley Park. Rockley Park is a Haven Holidays park in the Poole area of Dorset, I loved Haven the few times I went as a child so I decided to look into it as an option for us. When I found out that Rockley Park had a luxury spa, was right by the beach, kids activities on throughout the entire day, heated indoor AND outdoor pools and modern, stylish caravans I knew this was the place for me! What sold it even more is that it was so much closer to Peppa Pig World than we are at home and I really wanted to take my son there.

After looking through different deals I managed to get an amazingly low price for 4 nights in a Platinum caravan for 2 adults and 2 infants at just £240! This was a promotional offer and at such a low cost we booked straight away. Originally we were due to go in June but as a result of unforeseen circumstances we had to change our stay to the Easter holidays which was disappointing as the weather wasn't great but we still had a lovely time.

In the double room we also had a TV, a good sized mirror,
a wardrobe, drawers, and storage compartments either side and
above the bed

We had 2 of these smaller twin rooms, both came equipped with
small wardrobes and storage above the bed.

Unfortunately, I didn't get pictures of the rest of the caravan, as you can imagine it was a struggle to get a clear picture with 2 children running around! But, the pictures from the Haven website are a true representation so I will add them below.
The kitchen was really lovely and bright, it comes with cutlery,
plates, pans etc and has a dishwasher! This made life so much easier
for us, no-one wants to wash up on holiday!

This is the main bathroom as pictured by Haven, which has a shower
as well. We also had a second WC, both bathrooms had radiators which
was great for drying the kids' swimming clothes.

The living room was a really good size, it gave the children plenty
of space. The TV has a built in DVD player so we brought some DVDs
with us to keep them entertained when the weather wasn't great. The sofa
folds out into a sofa bed and the french doors led to our own private decking
with a table and chairs.

The view from the decking was lovely as we could see all of the boats on Poole Harbour. The caravan itself was really lovely, as you can see from the pictures its very modern and about as luxurious as caravans get! I was really pleasantly surprised, it was also very clean when we arrived and we had our own parking space directly outside. Also, the other great thing about the Platinum caravans is there your bedding is provided and cleaned by the Park themselves. I don't know about you but I definitely CBA to wash sheets and make beds whilst on holiday! So this was certainly worth the upgrade. From booking, to throughout the duration of our trip the staff were really helpful and friendly. The park is able to accommodate for disabled guests too, there are adapted facilities and activities inclusive of children of all different abilities.

Our children loved the parks on site, and also the arcade in the evenings! They also really enjoyed swimming and my friends daughter (aged 4) loved the tots activities and the disco every night.

There is a nature reserve a short walk away, the beach and the harbour are also pretty much on site. Unfortunately, it rained every day we were away so we didn't get to make the most of our surroundings but I would definitely go back in a couple of years when Iza is a bit older during the summer months - I honestly think the way the outdoor pool is set up and the fact that the beach is down the road you could kid yourself that you weren't in England!

On to Peppa Pig world, I would recommend buying your tickets from the reception at Rockley Park because they offer them at a cheaper discounted rate than Paulton's Park advanced tickets. When we arrived it was really busy with it being the school holidays so there were a lot of people everywhere but the actual Peppa World area of the park was really cool. It was amazing to see all the children shocked that the Peppa episodes had come to life, the rides and characters are really well thought out, they even have the songs from different episodes playing on different rides to make it a really immersive experience for the children.

The gift shop was also Peppa fan's heaven. Iza got the Royal Dinosaur teddy, 'Peppa plays football' book and a little Peppa football. My friends daughter got a colouring set and some other souvenirs, there was plenty of choice so the kids all found something they liked. The 4D cinema was also really fun, although the wait to get in was a bit too much for excited kids. The only thing I would do differently in future is visit during term time when everyone's at school!

As I've already said, I'd definitely go back to Rockley Park in future, its a great family destination for children of all ages and offers more than your bog standard UK family park. It brings back childhood nostalgia and reminded me of my Great Grandparents caravan that I had so many happy memories in when I was younger. My only tip to anyone going would be to take your own food! Don't buy from the shops onsite as they are extortionate, the restaurant prices were fair but for any food you plan to cook in the caravan, buy from a regular shop before you arrive!

I hope you all enjoyed this post and you find a UK holiday deal perfect for you and your family! I would definitely recommend Rockley Park. As always, thank you for reading!

Love,
