Munchkin Miracle 360 Trainer Cup
Training cups are used to help
babies transition from using bottles to drinking out of a normal cup. Health
care professionals advise that babies should be weaned off using a bottle with
a teat by the time they reach their first birthday, in order to prevent tooth
decay. However, this is much easier said than done and most babies are in a
routine of using a bottle to help them settle down to sleep, this was certainly
the case for the little tester who used a bottle for bedtime until he was
around 14 months old. I have this review to hopefully help you for when you are
choosing a trainer cup for your baby, as there are so many to choose from.
Review
Many trainer cups on the
market are designed so children have to suck rather than sip, which can
potentially lead to dental problems and speech development issues, if used for
long periods of time. However, in comes the Munchkin Miracle 360 cup, which has
been designed to mimic how you would drink from a regular cup, helping to reduce
the effects of drinking out of a traditional sippy cup. The 360 cup is suitable
for babies 6 months and up.
The Munchkin Miracle 360 cup
comes in a variety of colours and two different sizes (7oz and 10oz). The
smaller size comes with ergonomically designed handles built into the lid,
which makes it easier for little ones to hold, which helps to promote
independence.
This cup allows your baby to drink from anywhere around the
rim, just as a normal cup does. The cup works by allowing liquid to come out of
the holes when pressure is applied to the seal and the flow stops once your
baby has finished drinking. This design allows the liquid to come out at the
perfect flow, not too fast (so you have to change your baby’s outfit
constantly), or too slow (so your baby gets frustrated). I think it’s quite a
genius design.
The cup only as three pieces;
the cup, the screw lid and the seal, this makes it really easy to clean. You
only have to disassemble the parts and either hand wash them or put them in the
top rack of your dishwasher.
Many of the cups I have tried
for the little one have leaked in my changing bag and caused a few books to be
ruined and clothes needed to be washed, this cup is probably the best at being
leak proof. However, it’s not completely leak proof, as was demonstrated when
the little one bangs it on the table or throws it on the floor (but I don’t
know which cup would be). Nonetheless, it has never leaked in my bag, even if
it has tipped upside down.
We found this cup to be a bit
of learning curve for the little one, who would often drink from the opposite
side to the one closest to him. It took him until he was around 15 months, to
fully grasp the concept of how it worked.
You can buy the 360 cup from
most high street retailers that stock baby products, such as, Asda, Tesco,
Boots and Mothercare. The 7oz cup ranges in price from £4.00 to £5.49, so it
might be worth just shopping around a little bit, to get the best price.
Final thoughts
From my own personal experience
of using the Munchkin Miracle 360, I would highly recommend trying this cup
with your little one. I originally bought the small cup for the little tester
to try when he was 10 months old, and it has now become a firm favourite, still
at 2 and a half. In my opinion this is the best toddler cup on the market.
Hope this helps!
